Medical

Medical gases are gases used in medical procedures. Some are used for treatment, some for anesthesia, and some for driving medical devices and tools. The gases which are commonly used are: oxygen, nitrogen, nitrous oxide, argon, helium, carbon dioxide and compressed air. For example:- Oxygen - a medical gas required in every healthcare setting, and is used for resuscitation and inhalation therapy. Carbon Dioxide - used for less invasive surgeries. Nitrogen (Medical Liquid Nitrogen) - a medical gas used for cryosurgery removal of some cancers and skin lesions. Argon is used pure and in mixtures in hospitals for analyses and quality control. More particularly, argon is used as plasma gas in Inductive Coupled Plasma (ICP) emission spectrometry, blanket gas in Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (GFAAS) and as carrier gas in gas chromatography for various detector.
