ethylene (C₂H₄)

Ethylene (C₂H₄) is an increasingly important specialty gas in the semiconductor industry, particularly as device architectures move toward the sub-7nm nodes. It is used for carbon source of hardmask, low-k dielectric deposition and surface passivation.

Carbon nanotubes and graphene are the latest applications which ethylene serves as the primary carbon feedstock.
